Pilot Car - Escort Car Requirements.
Width: Over 12 to 13 6 requires 1 rear escort. Over 13 6 requires 1 front and 1 rear escort.
Height: Over 13 8 requires a route survey. Over 13 9 requires 1 front escort. Over 13 11 requires 1 front and 1 rear escort.
Length: 80 to 94 11 requires 1 rear escort. Over 95 requires 1 front and 1 rear escort. More than 115 requires 1 front and 1 rear escort plus MA State Police escort.
Even if no escort is needed, the load must have a rear mounted OVERSIZE LOAD sign of at least the following dimensions and colors: 7 long x 18 high with black letters 10 high and 1.41 brush strokes on a yellow background.
Travel Restrictions.
Travel is permitted from Monday morning from 12:01 am until 12 noon on Saturday. Loads between 12 and 14 wide and over 80 but not exceeding 114 in length and exceeding over 13 11 in height may travel during permitted weekends under permit from sunrise to sunset except 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
