Legal Loads

Length: It appears no max length is set but after 120’ requires a rear/chase escort.

Weight: 80,000 lbs. GVW or permits apply.

Width:  8’ 6” or permits apply.

Height: 14’ or permits apply.

Routine heavy haul, oversize shipping, trucking and transport permits.

Length:  Over 90’ requires rear escort.  We assume routine would be up to 120’.

Weight:  Single 20,000 lbs., 34,000 lbs. on Tandem, Tridem 42,500 lbs., Quadem.  See State website above for clarification.

Width: Figure up to 14’ as a routine permits.

Height: 16’ for most hauls however this is depending on routing.

Pilot Car - Escort vehicle requirements.

Length: Anything over 90’ requires one rear/chase vehicle.
Width: Two lanes over 12’ wide needs one front. Four lanes over 14’ wide requires one front.  If over 17’ you will need police, plus a front/rear/chase vehicle.  Height: This state is friendly depending on routing - if over 17’ 6” you need a front high pole and chase/rear escort vehicle.
Note: Permits are valid for 4 days.
 

Travel Restrictions

Operating times;  A half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset; you may travel 24 hours, 7 days a week with loads 10' wide on highways with proper lights and flags up to 92' long, anything that is over the legal height needs to be documented on permit. 
Weekend travel; Travel is allowed on both Saturday and Sunday, one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset.

Exceptions; Blades and buckets with counter weights can remain attached if under 16' wide, the bucket, blade and/or counter weight(s) may be hauled with the load as long as it's physically attached to the equipment/load.
